Lucia Pang
It was fervor, vigorous passion and an uncontrollable, wild imagination that first led to Lucia Pang picking up a camera and unconsciously building a portfolio that documented her summer days, adventures with friends, and strangers on the streets.
In 2010 at age fifteen, Lucia won the YouthWeek People’s Choice national photo award as one of the youngest competitors. The same year, she attended a prestigious Teen Vogue workshop in New York City and in 2011, sponsored by Tumblr.com, she was sent to photograph and cover New York Fashion Week SS 2012.
Lucia’s unique creative approach to photography, which she sees as a liberal manner of living rather than a step-by-step technical process, can be attributed to her teenage stance. Her pictures dominantly echo youth culture and raw emotion, and portray her ability to transform moments of simplicity into larger than life nostalgic memories.
”I started taking pictures when I kind of realised that I needed to start documenting in some way or another. I don’t have the best memory and there has been many moments when I’ve been too scared to blink because I know I just may let go unintentionally of something that later on, I will miss.”
